BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Yasser Awaad, a dedicated neurologist with a sub-specialization in child neurology, provides consulting services to the Beaumont Healthcare System in Royal Oak, Michigan, and serves as a visiting professor at Ain-Shams University in Cairo, Egypt. Besides teaching and consulting, he has extensive experience in administration, having helped expand the pediatric neurology field in Saudi Arabia by creating the first Pediatric Neurology Department, first Pediatric Neurology Residency Program, and a board pediatric neurology exam in that country alongside a major neurosciences facility. His research history includes completing a large study regarding new Tourette syndrome treatments. To train for his medical career, He underwent his rotating internship at Al-Azhar University. He then treated patients at Armed Forces Hospital in Cairo as resident in general surgery. In the United States, his post-doctoral education focused on pediatrics, and he secured residency and fellowship positions with New York University Medical Center. He is widely published in academic textbooks and peer-reviewed publications including the Journal of Child Neurology and the Journal of Pediatric Neurology.
