BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Gary Jay is a Clinical Professor in Division of Headache at Dept. of Neurology, University of North Carolina, USA. He is a business executive, neurologist, and key opinion leader in CNS fields, with a focus on analgesic drugs. Spanning years of experience, Dr. Jay's career includes a blend of commercial, clinical, and academic achievements; he is considered one of the first physicians to support the establishment of pain medicine as a clinical sub-specialty. He is frequently sought after for speaking engagements, clinical congresses, and industry events for his deep expertise in pain and drug development. Prior to his career in industry, Dr. Jay founded one of the largest headache, pain and mTBI management clinics in the United States, where he and his team treated over 35,000 patients. His research has been foundational to the progress of clinical research in pain; he has published 5 textbooks and >120 peer-reviewed journal articles. He is also a former member of the IMMPACT Committee, where he was one of the members who helped influence regulatory decisions regarding designing pain trials, abuse liability, and placebo effect minimization as well as other issues, in cooperation with 30+ of the top KOLs in the US. As a founder and key member of several highly regarded pain organizations such as the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the American Academy of Pain Management, and others, he has been President of National, Regional and State Pain Societies and is currently the Immediate Past President of the Eastern Pain Association.
