BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Surath Sanjaya Munasinghe is a Board Certified Neurosurgeon currently working at Teaching Hospital Ratnapura, Sri Lanka. His neurosurgical practice involves almost full spectrum of cranial and spinal work including both Adult and Paediatric neurosurgery, although his special interest includes Neurovascular, Functional and Complex Spinal work. Dr. Surath Sanjaya Munasinghe graduated his MBBBS degree in 2006 from University of Sri Jayawardenepura, Sri Lanka, with flying colours and started his postgraduate training as a Resident Surgeon. He obtained his MD (ranking 1st in both MD part 1 and 2) in 2015 and continued his specialty training in Neurosurgery as a Senior Resident at National Hospital of Sri Lanka. After completing his local training Dr. Surath was lucky enough to join Kings College Hospital, London in UK as a Fellow in Neurosurgery where he was trained under 18 well renowned Neurosurgeons which became a major turning point in his career. His sub-speciality training at Kings mainly included Complex spine, Skull base, and Functional Neurosurgery. In 2018 Dr. Surath Sanjaya Munasinghe had further opportunity to join the most renowned Neurosurgical Centre in UK National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery at Queen Square, London where he could further brush up his skills in Complex Spine surgery (under Mr. Adrian Casey), Neuro-Oncology (under Mr. Neil Kitchen and Mr. George Samandouras), and Neuro-Vascular Surgery (under Mr. Lawrence Watkins). Dr. Munasinghe has presented his research work both locally and internationally (AANS, BASS, CSRSAP, ISMISS, etc) He was a guest Speaker in Dubai International Spine Conference in 2019 and in 5th International Conference in Spine and Spinal disorders held in Rome 2019. Dr. Surath Sanjaya Munasinghe is a Fellow of the European Board of Neurological Surgery and a member of AANS, CNS, BASS, AO spine, EANS, NASS, ESSFN, EUROSPINE, etc. His ambition is to provide the maximum high quality neurosurgical care and service to the people in his country and worldwide.
