BIOGRAPHY
Born on October 8, 1942, M.Sc. from the University of Bangalore, Bangalore (1965) and Ph.D. (Physics-Metallurgical Eng.) from the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi (1972). Retired Scientist at Council of Scientific Industrial Research, Visiting Professor at the Federal University of Parana, Curitiba (PR-Brazil). Presently he is Honorary Professor at the Poornaprajna Institute for Scientific Research, Bangalore. Was Visiting Scientist at EMBRAPA, Colombo, Brazil during Nov. 2012- April 2013. He published about 360 papers in scientific journals and proceedings of Conferences, edited / contributed to about 35 books / monographs till this day. During 2015-2018 he has contributed 8 Chapters in 4 different books in the areas of lignocellulosic and Nanomaterials. He was a member of the Academic Council of Cochin University of Science & Technology, American Society of Materials and Institution of Engineers, Editorial Board of Bull. Material Science of India and Metal News of the Indian Institute of Metals, Open Journal of Polymer Chemistry (OJPChem) [since 2011]; Life Member of various Professional Bodies IIM / MRSI / ISNT / ISAMPE / EMSI, etc. Presently in Bangalore, helping many Ph.D. scholars from different Engineering and other colleges in writing scientific papers, Ph. D. thesis related matters and project proposals for getting external funds. So far 6 faculty members form different Engineering Colleges in Bangalore (Karnataka-India) have obtained Ph. D. Degrees under the above process.
RESEARCH INTEREST
His areas of interest include Al alloy development, Composites both Metal Matrix and polymer matrix with natural fibers. In recent years his emphasis has been on development of nano materials and their composites particularly Green and Biodegradable composites, development of new materials based on Agro-industrial wastes and biofuels.
