BIOGRAPHY

Mohd Farid ATAN is finishing his Ph.D. in Process System Engineering and Control at the University of Malaya, Malaysia under the supervision of Professor Ir Dr. Mohd Azlan Hussain for the project entitled "Dynamic Modeling, Optimization and Control of Propylene Polymerization in a Fluidized Bed Reactor" . Previously, he obtained both of his masters degree (Diplome d Ingenieur) and bachelors degree in chemistry and Process Engineering from Ecole Superieure de Chimie Physique Electronique de Lyon, France. Currently, he is working as a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Energy Sustainability, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) in Malaysia since December 2010. He is also a Research Fellow at the Institute of Social Informatics and Technological Innovations (ISITI), UNIMAS since 2014. Since his appointment as academician and researcher, he actively involves in various research projects (Fuel Cell, Wastewater Treatment, Renewable Energy, Material Science and Engineering, Polymerization Process, and Teaching and Learning Technology) and consultation projects (Clean Water Supply for Rural Schools in Sarawak, and Industrial Effluent Treatment Process) funded by several organizations such as Ministry of Education (MoE) Malaysia, OSAKA Gas Foundation, Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC) Malaysia, X-Fab Sarawak Sdn Bhd, and Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd. He has authored 3 books published by Faculty of Engineering, UNIMAS and published more than 15 manuscripts in indexed journal and conference proceedings. He is also being appointed as a peer reviewer for various conference proceedings and journals. Last but not least, he is actively teaching various undergraduate chemical engineering courses namely Workshop Practice, Process Control System, Process Integration and Optimization, Process Design, and Chemical Plant Design at the department.
