BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Francisco Jose Garcia Garcia finished PhD in Corrosion and Protection by The University of Manchester (United Kingdom) and MSc in Physical Sciences by the University of Seville (Spain). He was awarded, among others, with a JAEDoc 2011 (1st place) and Juan de la Cierva 2013 (3rd place) fellowships in the Nanotechnology on Surfaces Research Group at the Institute of Material Sciences of Seville. He also led Seville's participation in the European Union Project FP7-FCH-JU-2011-1 under the 7th Framework Programme, working in close collaboration with Visiting Professor Richard M. Lambert, University of Cambridge. Recently he is being granted by the University of Cordoba to act as principal investigator on a research project to develop novel low-cost sodium transition-metal layered oxide materials for Na- and Mg-ion batteries, in the research group Chemistry and Electrochemistry of Inorganic Materials led by Prof. Jose Luis Tirado Coello. His scientific achievements are summarised in 45 papers, 27 congress communications, 1 international industrial patent PCT/ES2014/000157 (WO2015044471 A1 & US 2016/0237556 A1), exploited by Abengoa Solar New Technologies S.A., 2 book chapters and different national and international research projects.
RESEARCH INTEREST
His research interests cover in general any aspect related with electrochemistry, with special emphasis in (a) the electrochemical reactivity, corrosion and protection of light alloys so as to tailor their functional properties and optimize their environmental performance. (b) The development of novel porous thin films for electrochromism, solid oxide fuel cells, sensors and Na-ion batteries.
